Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport LED combo pod light with bracket. This three inch LED combo pod light is gonna be great for seeing near and far. This is going to give you bright light as you can see with reduced glare for improved visibility and safety. So, I obviously have this connected to my power source already and I also wanted to show you that I have this installed to the bracket that it comes with.

And this is going to be a relatively easy installation on your vehicle with this bracket. You're going to get the hardware to install the bracket and the light to your vehicle, and then you're gonna get the hardware to install the light to the bracket. And as you can see when you have the light in the bracket, you're gonna be able to adjust the angle of that light. And then once you find that angle that you want, you just tighten down the hardware on either side and you'll be good to go. Now, that bracket is constructed of aluminum and I've got one here, so this is gonna be very durable and it's gonna hold up really well to the elements.

You're not gonna have to worry about corrosion or anything like that. Now, I'm gonna shut off my studio lights here, go out to my wide view again, try not to cross my wires, and I'm gonna shine this light on the wall behind me so you can take a good look at that beam. That combo pattern beam is a mix between your driving pattern and a flood pattern beam. So, this light is gonna be great for all around use. And this light has a color temperature of 3000 kelvin.

That yellow color is going to be great for bad weather. It's gonna cut through rain and fog, and this has a raw lumen rating of 1,930 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 1300 lumens. And while I'm here, I'm gonna go ahead and kick my studio lights back on. And even with my bright lights, you can still see just how bright this light is. So, going back in for a closeup, this light has a candela rating of 28,100, and that's the peak beam intensity, and candela ratings, in case you don't know, measure the directional light output.

That's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want lights shining in all directions. Before a more detailed description of these ratings, you could visit this product page on our website or Diode Dynamics. It provides additional information that you can find. So, the power draw is 1.1 amps, and I'm gonna go ahead and shut this off so I'm not continuing to blind you 'cause I do want to talk about what makes this light different from others. This light is designed with a newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So, unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't real efficient at focusing all that light where you want it, this custom design large TIR optic actually collects and then focuses all of the light forward very efficiently. And instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly onto this lens surface. That's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you probably know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you're gonna lose some of that light and you could lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through. So, by making it as a part of this lens, you're actually gonna pick up some efficiency rather than lose it. Now, this does include the industry standard integrated Deutsch style connector, and I do happen to have another pigtail here that's not in use showing you what that Deutsche connector is gonna look like. So, that's gonna plug right into the back of that light. Then you'll wire up the light. And then this also includes a breather patch. Lemme see if I can lift this bracket up. There we go. That breather patch is going to prevent moisture buildup in the light, which is great. And then also on the back, we do have these heat sinks that are gonna help dissipate the heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now, this light has been built with high intensity chips and it does feature a durable powder coated aluminum construction. And that heavy duty construction is gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures. Vibration and corrosion testing has been completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components on your vehicle. And an interesting fact is Diode Dynamics actually designed and engineered and assembled this light right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Let's go over some measurements, beginning with our width from end to end. We're sitting pretty close to 3 1/4 inches wide. The height is gonna be the same measurement, but then when you add that bracket, that's gonna increase it a little bit. So, from the top of the light to the bottom of our bracket, we're gonna be sitting right at about 3 3/4 inches tall. And then measuring from the front of the light to the end of our heat sinks, that's gonna bring us to about 2 3/8 inches deep. Now, this light does draw high current and it does require adequately sized wiring for safe operation. So, if you're not using a Diode Dynamics wiring harness, you do wanna make sure that you're using wiring that's 16 gauge or larger to ensure that safe operation.
